BACKUP YOU DATA - Keep a copy of your important data, photos , letters etc backed up somewhere safe CD and DVD are excellent for this purpose. USB pen drives are now also becoming popular
POWER PROTECTION - Power to your computer can contain nasty spikes, over and under voltages which can damage your computer. We recommend that you use an anti surge protector at the very minimum and for business a UPS (uninteruptable Power Supply) is essential.
P2P DATA SHARING - If you regularly share information using Kaza Imesh etc. then put a password on your user account and never leave your computer unattended while you are logged in. With Windows XP you can log off and switch user if you are going to leave it downloading. This will protect you from any remote control Trojans as they will not know your password to log back in.
USERS AND PASSWORDS - Other people can mess up your computer and do strange things which can end up with you not being able to use your computer. The safest way to allow other users onto your computer is by creating them their own accounts and set all but the most trusted people to Restricted user.
