PLEASE NOTE: THIS WARNING ONLY APPLIES TO
EMACHINES THAT HAVE NOT HAD REPLACEMENT POWER SUPPLIES.
It has come to our attention that there is a potential
problem with some emachine computers supplied by DSG.
The problem appears to be caused by the power supply. Although
not dangerous the power supply can fail totally or blow the mainboard
inside the computer.
Once this has occurred the mainboard has
to be replaced and if the power supply is still working it will blow the
new mainboard within weeks of the repair.
We recommend that if you own an emachine
that you check the make of your PSU. If it is a BESTEC unit then we recommend
that you have it replaced ASAP.

To check your PSU

Disconnect the computer
from the mains power supply.

Remove the left hand side panel (looking from the front of the computer)

The PSU is located at the top rear of the machine and has a sticker on
it identifying its maker.

If it is a BESTEC then we recommend replacement
We can check this for a small fee of £5 which will be offset from the replacement
should you require one.
